Wow, sorry people. It's not that I don't love you really.... I've just been crazy busy since this semester started and I honestly haven't had a moment to post. There's been a ton of things that I've been like "oh man, that would be awesome to post about on my blog" but then I never have time to. I am ashamed. I will do better.

This really was supposed to be my easy semester. But I think that illusion dissolved when I started teaching the CFI ground school out at Lafayette aviation on top of all the other things. I still think that's crazy, not only am I a CFI (a childhood dream) but now I teach people to become CFI's. I feel old. The nights I'm not doing that I've been trying to keep up with homework and reading through the bible in a year (IT WILL HAPPEN! lol)

Actually I just finished typing in a short little paper thing for theater class tomorrow. It originally had to be about the first time we kissed our true love, which seemed like alot of work to me because unless moms or sisters counted as true loves, I would have to go out and find a true love and kiss her all in the matter of a week. Although the knights of old might have been able to accomplish such a feat, I didn't really see it happening. So I was relieved when she expanded it to being about our first "love". I figured I could probably pull out some dusty chronicles of the life of Ross and write something on that. The closest I got was a really close friendship from back in the good ol' high school days that was better than the whole gooey kissy first true lovey thing anyway because we're still friends now. It was kind of a cool experience; to write and remember. That's something that I don't take enough time to do I think; just to remember what the Lord has done in my life and give him the glory for it. My major consolation in writing the paper thing though was that she promised no one else would see it, so I think were just going to analyze it in light of the dramatic structure of a story since that's what were reading about now.

Speaking of which, I have to go finish reading that chapter and write a speech for Comm 315 and prepare for ground school and memorize a monologue and AAAAAHHHHH!!! Yeah, so I should probably go.

Till I talk at you again.......

The Lost Art of Listening

It seems funny that I would be posting about listening on a blog. Blogs are all about talking, giving others only a little box that is off on another page to "comment". Maybe this is one of the reasons I really dislike blogs, or more specifically having my own blog. It's like on my blog I'm the man in the article (that I am going to link to on here) that just didn't know how to listen. He just talked and talked. Listening to other people has always been important to me, although I never really knew how to express it. Like the lady that wrote the article I like listening to what people are "really" saying when they are talking to me, to listen for the bigger picture of their motivations and needs. I don't know that I agree with everything in her paper, but I had to read it for COM 315 anyway lol. It is really interesting to read while thinking about how we could use listening and asking good questions to incarnate the love of Christ to others so that we might bring them to Christ if they aren't Christians or just to be there and encourage them if they are. With that I think I've said enough lol, here's the essay:

First Day Back

It's only been the first day of this semester and it already looks like it's going to be quite the singular adventure. I think that fact hit me somewhere between weaving my way through the buildings of campus, not on my way to the airport, but with campus being my destination, and the one and only AT class I have this semester that almost felt more like a class reunion than an actual class. Wow that was weird. Some of them had been away on internships last semester so we were welcoming them back and catching up in a way that almost lead me to expect Prof. Young to show up with the bingo chips. It seems like in these classes you always tend to form into these smaller groups that kind of stick together.... well there's a little group like that I've known since the first class freshman year pretty much, and Allison from our little group had been away on an internship and after she had walked in and given Mike, Garrett and me hugs (further contributing to the reunion feel) she caught us up on what all she'd been doing. Come to find out she just got engaged to this guy she met over the last semester and they're getting married in May.

That seemed to be another kind of depressing theme of that reunion class. One of the other guys in our row revealed that he just got engaged over break too, officially making me the only one in our little group not engaged. Now is that a downer or what? Don't get me wrong, it's great for them, but it does make me feel like I'm running behind schedule or something. Maybe I better start making that whole deal more of a priority. Up till this point I've just been trying to be content being single (not easy for me as y'all could probably imagine ;) ) but now I almost seem to be too content with it. Well, whenever your ready God lol.

I'm getting pretty excited about this acting class I'm taking this semester for a Humanities elective. I bought books today and the playbook they had on the shelf for that class was "Death of a Salesman", so I guess that must be the one we'll be working with. I don't know if were going to put together a whole play or not, but I guess I'll find out in about nine hours.
