Alright short post. I spent the entire day from 7 to 7 flying all around Lafayette and northern Indiana with students and making an endless number of controlled crashes at most of the area airports. One of my students and I stopped by Kentland airport and ducked into the little one-room-and-a-hanger building on the field to say hey to the 75 year old guy that runs the place and pretty much just sits there waitin' for someone to stop and talk. I guess he's like the cousin of the mayor there or something. But yeah, and then we flew over to Delphi and just missed the EAA chapters fly in breakfast. I promised one of their members named Debby that I would keep closer tabs on when they have those and make it out for the next one after she got on the radio and told me how much I missed by not being there. Which, if it was anything like the barbecue they had out there before then she's probably right. Got to love small airports

And then there's always the mechanical difficulties to make things more exciting. During my last flight today we lost all of our radios for awhile until I reached under the panel and messed with the wires that go to the intercom and were just kind of hanging there. But that's nothing compared to the excitement one of my fellow flight instructors had when during his first flight this morning at about 8 only one of his three landing gear would come down. I've decided I really don't like that airplane cause that's not the first time it's pulled something like that. They did finally come down for him after a little "encouragement" though.

So there you go. That was my day. And if I'm going to stay awake in church tomorrow, I better think about getting in bed in the very near future......

Why have Social Security when you could have the Year of Jubilee?

There you go! Right in Lev. 25 is the answer to the whole SS thing. How cool would that be......every 7th year you take a little break from life and every 50 years everything resets, ending poverty forever! But somehow I just can't see it happening......

Not much happened today, both of my classes where canceled and all but one of my students canceled, so the big event of the day was ordering DSL for our house. DSL will be cool but now I have to figure out if I should buy a wifi card for this computer and make it work for awhile longer or if it's time to start looking at new, or newer than early 90's, computers. But hey, if that's the biggest decision I have to make right now then that's alright with me lol. The other big event was getting to see the sunset in the air while flying around with my student. It was a totally awesome display of multiple cloud decks each burning with their own unique reflection of the deep red ball of sun that was slowly sinking out of sight. But other than that I spent the rest of the day writing a "point" paper for crew resource management class about a fake issue in a fake company using fake credentials to justify my position. Yeah I don't feel like it's a waste of time or anything lol.

Maybe I'll have something more exciting to write about tomorrow but I hope not. I kind of like not have too much excitement.

Happy Birthday Philip!

Yeah, once we have one birthday they just all start coming at the same time almost. But I think were done for awhile now.

This is a picture of the old FBO building at the Greenwood airport taken when I worked there back in the day. Mom found it in with a bunch of other pics and scanned it in so she could email it to me. Probably doesn't mean much to any of y'all, just a bad picture of an old building but it's got alot of history behind it.  Posted by Hello

So if you can't tell by the lack of posts, life's been pretty busy. Nothing really exciting unfortunately, but busy anyway.

I found out this afternoon why it's not so good to wash white dress shirts with blue jeans. Hmm, white and blue. Yeah, so now my white dress work shirts have this really kind of weird blue glow to them. We're going on the third wash now and the don't seem to be getting any better. I thought I would try dumping some vinegar in there with em.....I thought I remembered something about that helping to whiten em up but Josh and I just agreed it would waste the vinegar and make the shirts both blue and smelly.

One of my two classes today were canceled. Well, it wasn't really canceled it was just rescheduled for Sunday afternoons. Yeah ugh. So much for getting a day of rest. How do people operate like that normally.

The one class I did have today was 727 sim. We went out, lost a couple engines, dumped fuel into the Atlantic, and then shot an approach to minimums at Kennedy airport in New York. Then after the sim session one of my two crew members who's a girl invited me over to her apt to play Oregon trail on her computer lol. I didn't know how to take that. I mean it's definitely a classic game and all but something was a little fishy 'bout that.

In bible study last night one of the Psalms we were covering was Psalms 46; one of my all time favorites. The whole psalm is spent describing God as our refuge and our strength. It paints the picture of a world of noise, kaos and uncontrollable forces and then reassures us that God is in control of all that and then tells us that we just need to "be still and know that he is God". You just can't help but sing a Psalm like that and not be moved. Yeah and 46C is my personal favorite version of it out of the psalm book since it's to the tune of "A mighty fortress is our God", another cool song that I can play on guitar making it one of the few psalms with guitar music already written for it.

Yup, so that's all I got tonight. Not much, but more than nothing. Thanks to those of you that were praying for my being busy and decisions and stuff. God is really working everything out like I so often forget that he will. And no I don't think I'm going to transfer into EET anymore, 3 more years didn't sound appealing. I'd be like 23 and old and gray by the time I graduated lol.

Coming back from Indy Sunday night I had my first opportunity all week to just think and pray in silence. My radio doesn't quite work all the way right now.....I can only pick up radio stations within like a one mile radius and there aren't many between Indy and here. The more I reflected on the week the more I realized why I felt so worn out. This whole week was fairly crazy, yet mostly uneventful. Just crazy. Ok, so I guess there were some events but nothing really worthy of noting right now. I spent all of Saturday flying around with students in that terrible Lafayette haze trying not to hit other people cruising around up there. Actually there was at least one "close" call. That night I just came home and crashed, convinced that I didn't want to do this for the rest of my life.

But then there's Sunday. Sunday morning I got up and made tracks back to Indy with the intent of getting back there in time for church. I actually made it back in time for the sermon, although I missed the baptism they were having right before that. Hmm....baptism.....sounds like a post I was going to do.......anyway. Pastor Faris's sermon was awesome as usual. He was continuing to preach through Mark and was at Mark 8:11-38 this Sunday. One of the big things I pulled out of it was where Jesus was asking his disciples who they say that he is and after fumbling around a little, Peter finally gets out "you are the Christ". Pastor Faris was challenging us to think about who we say God is. Ok, so we answer that he's our Prophet, Priest, and King. If we that's truly who God is to us then that has some serious implications. Right after that he talks about how anyone who wants to follow him needs to deny themself and take up their cross and follow him. So if he really is who we said he was, then we need to be taking up our cross and living our life so that it clearly reflects Christ to others. What seems like such a simple question really demands not only an answer, but definite action.

Oh, funny story..... oh ha after writing the whole story out I changed my mind about telling it.....just have to save it for another day. Ha wasn't that funny?

So then the rest of the afternoon we celebrated Kathryn's birthday. Man, 16. I can remember way back when I was 16.....like 4 years ago. She got a LOTR extended edition of the Fellowship, so we watched that for about an hour and a half or so and then realized we would be there for the rest of the night if we tried to finish it out. Then, after much convincing, I got her to try and drive my truck around. I had to practically pick her up and put her in the drivers seat. After we got going though she had a blast. I guess I never realized how close the side of the road looks in the right seat. By the end of it we still had all our neighbors and they still had all their children and dogs so I guess the driving lesson was a success.

Finally, around 8 that evening, my broken radio and I began the trip back up to Lafayette with windows rolled all the way down to better enjoy everyone of those 45 degrees. And now here I am back in Lafayette on a Monday afternoon in need of a walmart run.

Happy Birthday Kathryn!

Ha, I never looked at the font sizes on blogger before. You can choose between "normal" "large" "huge" "small" and "tiny". I guess 12 point was a little complicated for people lol.
