Shot Big Pine with Josh Sunday afternoon. My student called and told me he passed his checkride right as we were arriving at the river which made me a happy paddler. Actually I probably would have had fun paddling even if it was the FAA calling to say my student just ended up in a firery wreck because this river was just that cool, but still... The river was only at the 1/2 mark on the Rainsville bridge, but it turned out to be just good enough. If it was any lower it would have not worked, but as it was it was pretty good. Although to hit this river in flood stage would be a dream.  Posted by Picasa

I think these guys dropped a black diamond nalgene while playing in the crazy class 3/4 rapids, because we found one down river just kind of floating along. They never caught back up to us otherwise they would have been reunited with the prodigal nalgene, but since they didn't I guess we are now + one nalgene after this trip. That's a change.... for once we come back with more gear than we left with. Posted by Picasa

Well, yeah so much for having more time to post. Now that everything is kind of settling in for the summer I might be able to at least get something new on here for my greatly diminished readership. Actually, I was really just waiting until people that weren't real diehard Ross's blog readers gave up, and now that were down to "the few, the proud, the true readers of Ross's blog" now I can start posting cool stuff. Or something like that.

I really don't feel like scrolling down to see if I've already mentioned this, but for the summer I'll be here in Lafayette, a flight instructor by day and server at Spagetties Italian Restaurant by night and a guest at weddings on the weekends. Well, that last ones isn't official but it's proving to be the case so far. I guess it is that time in life.... next stop is the funerals. Speaking of which I did get my AARP card in the mail the other day. No joke. Looks like retiring after college might be an option... they said I was fully qualified lol.

I have other big plans for the summer as well but I don't know what they are yet. I'll fill in the blanks once I find out. Posted by Picasa
