Josh claimed that my room had a slight pink hue on his blog, so I posted this picture of his room to prove that if indeed my room is pink, his room is pinker.
A hue would be a pure color like red, but when you add white it becomes a tint - and so pinks are tints, but dark reds are shades. If you have a triangle with a vertical straight left side, on the top left corner you have tints, the lower left corner are shades and the right point are hues. In the middle are tones. More information than you wanted.
And of course you didn't mess with the tint. And it is tint, not hue, but naturally being aviation majors ya'll wouldn't know that.

So if you add white it's a tint and if you add black it's a shade? You lost me when you said triangle. I'm just a pilot.
